What is Shareholder Activism
Activist investors endeavor to unlock value in undervalued companies by taking a proactive and hands on approach to improving the corporate governance, capital management and strategic direction of the companies they invest in. Activists seek to reduce uncertainty by actively working towards an outcome. They act independently to the board of directors and owners of a company and a key component of activist investing involves working closely with both substantial and minority existing shareholders in order to generate support to strengthen the activists push for change.
